🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Citizens Park is a popular destination for families and visitors seeking outdoor recreation in Aiken, South Carolina. This well-maintained park is known for its pet-friendly trails and welcoming atmosphere. Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on a leash, making it an excellent spot for dog-friendly hiking or a relaxing walk with your four-legged friend. The park offers a convenient walking and jogging loop, covering about 0.8 miles around open sports fields—perfect for exercise for both humans and pets.
Alongside being one of the larger green spaces in Aiken, Citizens Park features amenities such as baseball fields, picnic tables, a public restroom, swings, slides, and a splash pad (seasonal)—all of which make it attractive for families. The area around the playground is particularly convenient for those watching games or simply relaxing outdoors, and the park is designed to be wheelchair accessible. While there isn’t a designated off-leash dog area, the park’s welcoming policy for leashed pets and ample open space make it a favorite spot for pet owners in the area.
My grandkids LOVE the water park! Very clean and accessible…
Fields are in great shape majority of the time. I like how the playground is inside of the circle of fields. Keeps the kids close to you while watching games. Men’s restrooms were nasty. Smelt like fermented pee.
This park is a little disappointing. The only things available to the public are a walking track, some batting cages, two open fields, splash pad (sometimes) and one swing set with four swings. You can’t access the larger, better playground. They need to install a decent playground that is accessible to the public.
Soccer perspective review: There are no field numbers for the 9 fields that are available. This makes for a very confusing time since the baseball fields (in pristine shape) are numbered with signs. The turf conditions are substandard at best and the fields are uneven and poorly marked. Disappointing and telling how the community at large places the importance of a quality pitch.
Great for walking or jogging. Its about .8 miles around the soccer field area. Not heavily congested w/people. Bathrooms are currently open. Very well kept/maintained. Pets welcome as long as they’re on a leash. My new exercise spot.
