Chumash Park in Agoura Hills, CA is a spacious and scenic destination perfect for families, dog owners, and anyone looking for a relaxing day outdoors. Known for its sprawling grassy fields, majestic century-old oak trees, and accessible walking trails, this park is a local favorite for picnics, dog walks, community concerts, and enjoying nature. The park’s pet-friendly ambiance, paved sidewalks, and wide-open spaces make it a top choice for dog-friendly outings in the Conejo Valley.
With amenities like a softball field, playgrounds, picnic tables, public restrooms, and wheelchair accessibility, Chumash Park provides a comfortable experience for both people and their pets. Dog owners will appreciate the relaxed policy often observed by locals—while official rules advise dogs to remain leashed, many regulars report allowing their well-behaved dogs some off-leash time in the open grass areas. The park’s shaded spots under mature trees, easy street parking, and regular maintenance further enhance the visitor experience. Whether you’re seeking pet-friendly trails, a spot for a family picnic, or somewhere to enjoy Sunday evening concerts, Chumash Park has something for everyone.
My wife and I took some sandwiches and had a wonderful night listening to the Bruno Mars and the Hooligans cover band. It was a beautiful night all the people were well behaved and nice and a good time was had by all
A place for everyone. Grass for a picnic or dog walk or game of catch. Flat sidewalk encircling the park for a morning or evening stroll. This is one of the best parks in the Conejo Valley. Summer concerts on Sunday evenings used to be a weekly activity prior to the lock downs. We’re all looking forward to the day when picnic-in-a-park with rock and roll come back again!
One of the most beautiful parks I have been to. The park has a variety of full grown trees, including hundred year old plus oak trees. The park is well maintained and has large grass areas for numerous simultaneous soccer games etc. It also has a large softball diamond with backstop and protective screen dugouts for both teams. It also has a playground with jungle gym and swings for young children. Bathrooms, drinking fountain, and about 1/2 a dozen large picnic tables. No bbqs. I don’t know if you are allowed to bring your own bbq. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountain areas. Dogs on leashes is enforced with fines. Level terrain and surrounding sidewalks are easy to walk. Only the sidewalks are lit by street light posts. Park patrolled at night by sheriffs. Only street parking available. Neighborhood watch active with numerous security cameras reviewed by sheriffs on request.
Good place for picnic of just relax on the grass, also it has trails around.
This is an awesome park. It’s just for me away enough from the freeway where you don’t hear much of that. It’s a very large park at one and there’s a softball field. There is a children’s play area in the middle. Their boys and girl bathrooms. There are two picnic areas. One is big wrong with the main picnic area. When I like the most about it is there’s lots of trees he can walk around the outside in the tree line in the shade. Or you walk for the middle of the park where it’s sunny. Very grassy in large. I would say as big as maybe two football fields. Lots of dogs, lots of children, lots of people… It’s a beautiful place on a sunny day. In the background you can see the Lenny face mountain. And on the other side there is the Agoura high school. And along the outer edge or a bunch of small single family homes. And it looks like they’re mostly small families that live in them. You can often with your dog run around off leash if your dog is obedient. And of course you can pick up that your dogs mess. One of the best parks in the area.
