Adair City Park Campground is a friendly, dog-welcoming stop located just off I-80 in Adair, Iowa, making it a convenient and affordable option for dog owners traveling through the area. Known for its safety and cleanliness, the campground offers a variety of flat, grassy, or gravel sites with electric and water hookups. With public restrooms, showers, and a dump station, it is well-suited for both campers and day visitors. While not a dedicated dog park, this pet-friendly campground welcomes leashed pets and is a great choice for those seeking a dog-friendly camping site.
Families will appreciate the many amenities beyond the standard campground features, including playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, a grass volleyball court, baseball fields, and pavilions—making it a fun stop for all ages. The site is historically significant as it is the location of the first train robbery by Jesse James and his gang. Dog owners looking for a friendly, well-rounded park with activities for children and pets alike will find Adair City Park Campground a hidden gem among Iowa’s dog-friendly parks.
Great spot for a picnic or overnight camping just off the highway. Clean, safe Park with playgrounds and each site has electric and water. Restrooms, showers, dump station. NULL for RVs & NULL for tents. 8 sites, first come. Dog friendly but not all sites big rigs friendly. Site of Jesse James first train robbery.
A nice park in a quaint town. There were at least 8 RV 30 amp hookups that I saw. Overnight stay is only NULL and there is a public bath with showers, fresh water pumps and a dump station. Easy walk into town. And the site of the first train robbery in the US by Jesse James and his gang.
NULL a day. Put money in door slot. Maybe 15 spots, 30 amp, restrooms, playground, and level grass or gravel sites. Three water pumps to fill camper. Most people would not find this place and it was a great find. A little traffic noise but that didn’t bother us.
Small city campground not too far off I80. I’m in A32 foot class, c. Not sure if anything bigger would really fit. They only have thirty amp, and the current price is twenty dollars for the night with an extra five.If you want to dump. Little noisy from the traffic, but I think once you’re inside with air conditioning going, it won’t be bad.
What a hidden gem 💎.
If you have kids, you definitely need to stop here.
They have electric and water hookups. A dump station.
The park has tons for kids to play on. Grass volleyball court. Baseball diamond with bags! Basketball courts with adjustable rims so even the vertically challenged can dunk. Tennis court with a net that is better than NULL/ night sites we have stayed in. A zip line that is so much fun…. which the giant kid in me had to try it….Twice. Strictly for review purposes of course. 🤭. A pavilion. Huge BBQ grill.
If you’ve read my other reviews on campsites, I score according to cost, amenities and the site. The only 2 things they don’t have are a pool and laundry. But for the price, it’s an easy 5 stars.
And even if you stayed overnight in your car, pay them some money. You felt safe. You definitely used the restroom and probably the shower. That’s worth at least NULL. Gas stations charge NULL for a shower!
It’s on the honor system. So they trust you’ll pay.
