Peaceful, Scenic, and Worth the Stop!
Red Top Mountain doesn’t disappoint. The lake views are gorgeous with calm, clear water surrounded by tall pines and that perfect mix of shade and sunshine. The shoreline’s great for skipping rocks or just sitting back to enjoy the stillness. Picnic tables are tucked right under the trees with views that could make a postcard jealous.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to unwind, this is it. Bring a lunch, take a walk, maybe dip your toes in the water. It’s simple, natural Georgia beauty at its best.

Verrrry nice… clean, and peaceful. The path isn’t paved, but it’s smooth and wide with several little break away trails along the way that lead to the banks of the lake. Everywhere you look is a beautiful view. 10/10

This is my most loved hiking spot with my dog. Absolutely love taking her hiking here! It’s beautiful during the cooler fall months where the leaves change colors and the views are gorgeous with plenty of overhanging shade and lush scenery. Super dog friendly and lots of entrances into the surrounding lake are for the dogs to cool off in. Easy trail that’s flat and easy to hike and the lake view is gorgeous. My favorite trail entrance is the Iron Hill entrance- highly recommend.

Just minutes from the city but feels like you’re out in the wilderness. The lake surrounds much of the state park and there’s plenty of things to do on the water or on land. There’s tennis/pickleball courts right by the trading post. Restrooms are clean. The cottages are amazing and situated in a fantastic spot. We had a wooded view of the lake and could walk just down the hill to go fishing. Rest and relaxation were easily obtained. Cell phone service throughout the park made it easy to stay in touch with the outside world, do what you will with that. The hiking trails were well maintained and had wonderful views of fauna and flora.

Very neat and clear trails. Friendly hikers along with their pets. We did see some dogs off their leash, but they were not a nuisance as they stayed proximal to their owners. We went as a large hiker group; we saw an additional hiking group out there as well. Plenty of shade and the terrain is not bad/dangerous, but there are noticeable elevation changes. We took the Homestead Trail.
