🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located conveniently at 78 Cook St, The Meadows Sports Complex in Abingdon, Virginia, offers a picturesque outdoor experience for families and pet owners. The park is beautifully maintained, featuring modern baseball and soccer fields surrounded by well-kept walking trails that connect directly to the popular Virginia Creeper Trail. While the main attractions center around sports, the complex also includes a nice playground for kids and easy access to restrooms, making it suitable for visitors of all ages.
For local dog owners, it’s a welcoming spot to bring your leashed pets for strolls on the walking tracks or for a quick break while exploring the nearby Creeper Trail. Though there’s not a dedicated off-leash dog park or fenced area exclusively for dogs, the combination of pet-friendly trails and open spaces offers plenty of opportunities for on-leash dog walking in a community-friendly environment.
This is a very nice new sports complex. The fields all have fancy new grass – there are 4’ish soccer fields depending on how they’re configured. 3 baseball fields maybe? there’s a walking track that goes around the whole place, w/ access to the Virginia Creeper Trail. there’s a concession stand near the soccer fields I know, maybe another near the baseball. looks like the splash pad is making progress – surely it’ll be open by next Spring. very nice playground as well.
Great park. Fan friendly. Good concession stand.
Beautiful baseball fields with a walking trail surrounding the park.
All areas well maintained.
My granddaughters and I rode our bikes into it last year to use the bath room when we were riding on the Creeper trail , and ended up watching the ball game.
Such a wasted opportunity to create a place for the community. Could have been turned into a lovely park that was useful but instead just an excuse to put softball fields no one gets to use except travel softball teams. It’s a complete waste of space.
