The Henry Hudson Bike Trail is a scenic, pet-friendly destination in Aberdeen Township, New Jersey, perfect for locals and visitors looking for dog-friendly hiking or walking trails. This well-loved trail stretches from Aberdeen to Atlantic Highlands, running roughly 10 miles each way. It offers a peaceful, natural escape with plenty of shade, lovely river views, and even a charming community book-sharing box at the South Bound Brook entrance. The majority of the trail is paved, making it suitable for walking your dog, and, while it’s bumpy for bikes with thin tires, it’s great for a relaxing stroll with your furry friend.
Dog owners appreciate the serene atmosphere and the friendliness of fellow trail-goers. The trail is especially recommended for those seeking a relaxing outing with their pets rather than a high-speed cycling experience. Enjoy covered spots along the path that provide reprieve on sunny days and soak in the natural surroundings of one of the most beloved pet-friendly trails in the region.
If you have thin road tires for your bike, just know it’s extremely bumpy because there are cracks in the asphalt almost every 15 feet. Would be ok if you had thicker tires like an e-bile has. Not a very enjoyable ride for us. Nice long trail though if you can deal with the pain 🙂 lol

Ridden the stretch from Aberdeen to Atlantic Highlands (10ish miles each way) multiple times over the years. Great spot for a nice chill day. Plenty of cover on sunny days. Keep an eye out for the signs at the end to get all the way to the water.

Desperately needs to be repaved. It is painful to ride on. Its a great neighborhood trail otherwise. Better for walking

I really love riding this trail when the weather is warm enough to. I like that the trail is relatively flat and paved for the majority of the path. The views that you get on this trail are phenomenal, especially when you reconnect in the highlands. The people on the trail are friendly.
