Did you know that this was the first state park preserve in nys? So much history and nature, this is an absolute gem. It needs not just be kept but expanded.. they have good bathrooms and water bottle refilling stations, the fish hatchery is super cool for all ages, people going by on horseback, great way to remove ourselves from the busy, chaotic hustle and bustle of the 21st century
Very nice spot to walk around enjoy the scenery. Many picturesque spots and the running water is very soothing
This is one of my favorite parks and trails I have ever been on. It’s so beautiful to go there, especially during autumn, as the leaves turn and there are deers and hamsters that roam around deep in the woods everywhere. I would recommend bringing with you plenty of food and drink so you don’t need to turn around and head back if you start to get famished. There’s trails that extend as far as 8 miles. It’s definitely a place to go if you want to see beauty in nature.
Great hike about, bring bug spray and tick protection – they have signs for west nile and tick issues – if you don’t have anything the park office has bug spray and such available and sticky rollers! If you take the trail all the way to the hatchery, the hatchery area has bathrooms and a water fountain.
My first time here and I came to do the red trail which is 3.4 miles of stunning nature. The wildlife roams around and the path led to a stunning historic active hatchery which was priceless to experience. There are restrooms at the beginning and next to the hatchery which was perfect with refil water stations. Definitely must come back as there are 4 other trails.
