Grist Mill Park in Centerport, New York, offers a peaceful, pet-friendly spot for locals searching for a relaxing dog park experience with beautiful water views. Located at 215 Mill Dam Rd, this grassy, partially shaded location is an excellent place for a short stroll, sitting on benches, or letting your pup enjoy nature. While the park isn’t a traditional dog park with fenced enclosures, it’s open to dogs and provides a scenic setting with a quiet vibe and benches beneath the trees.
This dog-friendly park is wheelchair accessible and welcomes kids, making it ideal for families looking to spend time outdoors. The area is also known for its bridge, a great spot for fishing or just taking in the views of Centerport. Visitors recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks, as amenities are limited. Note that parking can be scarce on busy days, but the serenity and natural beauty are worth the visit.
Parking will be a challenge on a nice day. Nature and the eagles make it worth it! Pack your own snack, drink if ypu plan to stay a while.
Beautiful afternoon fishing off of the bridge.
I’m not sure if I would call this a park, but it’s definitely a relaxing grassy setting with a descent amount of shade from the trees and 4 sets of benches. Well 3 or 4. Lol. But I did end up getting bit by this weird bug I’ve never seen before. It felt like a mosquito bite but it felt almost as if something was being injected at the same time. It was black and yellow striped, no it was not a bee lol, and it was like flat but it flew too. Very tiny. So to visit and for like maybe an hour tops, it’s a nice quiet relaxing setting, but it can get boring quickly and watch out for those bugs lol! Also you’re right across from the bridge in Centerport and you can park there and go fishing on the bridge, or just sit on the benches they also have at the bridge, go for a walk, whatever pleases you! Anyways, I’m not sure why I made this so long but hope this helps!
Good for a short walk around, nice views.
Beautiful secluded area. Not as crowded as the big state parks. Quiet, nice place to chill.
