Nestled within Stotzky Memorial Park, Duke Dog Park is a welcoming and wheelchair-accessible destination for local dog lovers in Riverhead, NY. This dog park offers separate, fenced-in areas for both large and small dogs, allowing pups to socialize and play off-leash in a secure environment. While the spaces are not huge, they provide enough room for dogs to exercise and interact under their owners’ supervision.
Cleanliness and a friendly community atmosphere stand out, with reviews highlighting regular dog walkers and pet parents who frequent the park. There are walking trails, nearby sports fields, exercise stations, and plenty of parking, making it easy to turn your visit into a fun, active day for both you and your dog. The location is a hidden gem for anyone seeking a relaxed, dog-friendly outing in Riverhead, just minutes from downtown.
Large and small dogs are separated, which is good. It’s not a huge area but it’s sufficient. I’ve used it twice now to introduce a new rescue to my other two dogs. Did the trick. All dogs are happy and playing nicely together.
It was a decent park. A bit small but fenced in quite well. The dog park in rockaway is much larger and the one we usually visit. Very disappointed in the other owners there. My dogs are very friendly but very protective. One owner came in with a baby and their dog was constantly coming up to one of mine and barking aggressively. I had to restrain my dog from attacking. The other owner just said, “he is being very protective of the baby today.” Didn’t discipline his dog or anything. So we left. Very upsetting. Another dog owner there, obviously friends with that owner, didn’t even say anything. They just kept taking about getting together one night during the week.
It’s relatively clean but could be better maintained. I walk the park with my dog often and its ok but could be better
Always a pleasant experience. Not a place for aggressive dogs. Very friendly environment and most are regular dog walkers or lovers. Everyone knows one another. Duke Park is surrounded via a sports park n walking 🚶♀️ trails. Its very diverse safe and I even got to do pull ups n dips nearby. Yes exercise stations nearby. Dog bags. Bathroom. Very
Clean n laid back park. Actually a hidden gem. Moreover…. many sporting events from soccer to baseball etc . Great place to just chill n relax. Yeah plenty parking. Enjoy. Being going here over 12 yrs with my black labrador
This area is actually part of Stotzky Memorial Park, so it took a bit of time to locate the dog sections. There are two small fenced-in areas: one for small dogs and another for large dogs. You can let your dog off-leash, but if your pup is a digger, be cautious—there are spots where a fast digger could potentially escape. It wasn’t crowded at all during the week; in fact, I didn’t see another person or dog.
