Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Bayport Beach, tucked away on the scenic shores of Great South Bay, is a hidden local gem in Bayport, New York. Known for its quiet, peaceful setting and beautiful water views, this dog-friendly spot is perfect for a relaxing stroll with your pup or a cozy family picnic. While the beach area is small and can get a bit messy due to erosion and natural debris, the tranquil atmosphere, free parking, and adjacent playground make it a lovely escape from busier parks.
This community-favorite park features a pirate-themed playground for kids, a small gazeebo for shade, and walking access to the bay and adjacent boat docks. It’s a popular spot for meditation, reading, or enjoying sunsets with your four-legged friend. Although there’s no designated off-leash area, leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy the views and walk along the bay. Please keep an eye on pets and children, as the area is unfenced and close to the water.
I hope this hidden gem stays this way: private, clean, peaceful and filled with beauty!!! We stumbled upon it accidentally and plan to keep this out little secret spot for a picnic or to just sit and watch the sunset.
Is a small beautiful beach, a local told me they have lifeguard in summer, which is awesome, the place its cozy and offer 2 areas for kids, will definitely coming back in summer, great for meditation in cold days.
Nice, cute, pirate ship park but small.
Upside: free to park. Access to playground and Bay with small gazeebo. Adjacent to boat docks and pier.
Downside: beach is so small due to erosion. Its gross, seaweed n idk what else all over it with sand fleas and dead crabs everywhere. There are 2 sides of playground split by parking lot, encouraging kids to run through a parking lot. The West side of playground features a slide thats stilllll broken for some time, old swings and 2 dinosaurs to climb on. Its all unfenced and by the water so keep a close eye on your kids. I would prefer to use a pool or go in the ocean then use this Bay water to swim in… Id say dont go in past your knees. Bleh!
Upside: if you are there to lay on the beach and get some sun there is not a lot of people I need to park close to your car if you need anything. It has a nice beautiful view of the a Great South Bay and fire island. The pirate ship side of the park is somewhat new. Parking is free.
I have not been to this park in many years. Forgot it was even there and I that is the point of such a place. I was here late in the day 4pm and there were minimal amount of people there. the wind was also kicking out of the east. very chilly for a August day. the dog that sticks out into the bay a little has bait cutting stations as well as rod holders attached to the rails. Nice feature if you like to bait and wait. Took a Nice little stroll along the canal to see the boats. only spent 15 minutes there but really enjoyed the park. There is a little book library there as well right behind the sign.
Sweet little beach! Perfect spot for a sunny day + the pirate playground is toddler gold 🏴☠️🌊
