🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
DiMattina Dog Run is a beloved pet-friendly space in Brooklyn, New York, perfect for local pup parents looking for a large area for their dogs to romp and play. The park features three inter-connected sections with gates that allow flexibility for separating dogs when needed. While there aren’t permanently designated small or large dog areas, the flexible layout means you can make private spaces for your pooch if the situation calls for it. Dogs of all sizes are welcome, and the space is popular among the community, especially in the mornings and on weekends!
The park has a dirt and gravel surface with ample shade from trees, keeping both owners and dogs cool during summer visits. Water fountains are available, but they are turned off in the winter months, so bring your own water during colder weather. There are plenty of benches and seating areas for owners, and while the surface can get muddy after rain, regulars enjoy the cleanish, well-kept grounds. The park is fully fenced and wheelchair accessible, making it convenient for everyone to visit. Looking for a community feel and lots of room for your dog to run around in Brooklyn? DiMattina Dog Run fits the bill!
Next to the BQE, this park is surprisingly well cared for. Fairly spacious with a dirt and gravel surface, lots of room for romping around. Fairly active on the weekends but pretty empty mid-day during the week. Lots of shade and benches for people’s comfort and water fountains to keep the pups cool. There are berry trees though so have to keep an eye that your pup isnt munching.
Generally a great option although the dirt makes for a really filthy dog when they’re done playing. The park is completely unusable in rainy/inclement weather. There are almost always several throwing arm things and plenty of balls around (although I generally just bring my own).
Local tip* Water shuts off during the winter so don’t forget a little water bottle for heavy play sessions.
Dusty and dirty for sure, but a lovely large space for the area with three separate spaces with gates to close them off from each other if need be. Dogs of all sizes come here; there aren’t designated small/large dog areas but if necessary one of the spaces can be used. Love this spot!
Lovely dog park with two sections (optionally, the doors between them are usually open), with water for the dogs, plenty of shade and seating for the humans.
It is mainly dirt, but there is a grassy area.
Consistently filled with dogs, especially in the morning, with a lovely community of owners too!
Only downside: in the rain it turns into a lake. When it rains I go to the pebble dog park on pier 6.
Nice and shaddy, enough space for dogs to run, cleanish, not busy, lots of water, trees, Rocky ground
