Sir William’s Dog Run is a popular and well-maintained dog park located in beautiful Fort Tryon Park, New York, NY. This dog park stands out for its peaceful, scenic surroundings, nestled next to a charming stone gazebo, making it a favorite spot among uptown dog owners and those exploring dog-friendly parks near New York City. The run features separate, spacious areas tailored for both small dogs (under 25 lbs) and larger breeds, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all pups.
The park’s large, lively grounds are set on dirt and woodchips, so be prepared for some muddy paws, especially after it rains. While Sir William’s Dog Run offers picnic tables within each section for human companions to relax and socialize, there is no water fountain on-site, so visitors should bring their own water for their pets. The vibrant local dog-owner community makes this park an excellent destination year-round for off-leash play and socialization, enhancing the pet-friendly atmosphere in northern Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park. It’s also a great place to enjoy dog-friendly walks and beautiful green spaces.
Dog park next to a stone gazebo. Often watch the dogs run around while I play Pokemon Go inside the gazebo. It’s so peaceful there when it rains.
An awesome and large dog run. There are two runs. One for smaller dogs and one for large. In a beautiful setting too. Would be even better if there was a water fountain near by. A great experience!
Well maintained dog run in the beautiful Fort Tryon park. There are two separate areas, one for dogs under 25lbs and one for larger dogs. No water fountains/pumps so bring your own. Picnic tables in each area for the humans! Dirt/woodchips so expect your pup to get muddy feet!
Reminded me of the dog park in union square, it is so lively and full of doggies. Encountered about ten different dogs in a span of an hour. Absolutely love this location. Not to mention it is large.
An excellent place to take your pup anytime of year! Great community of uptown dog owners. There is no water source in the park so you’ll have to hike it up with you, or run over to the New Leaf restaurant to refill the bowls.
