Shelburne Dog Park: A Wooded Retreat for Dogs and Owners

Discover Shelburne Dog Park, a unique dog park in Shelburne, Vermont, conveniently located near Shelburne Farms at 740 Harbor Rd. Rather than the usual open fields, this park features a wooded, pet-friendly trail that provides a cool, shaded spot for dogs to run, sniff, and explore. Known by locals as the “dog woods,” this area offers a natural, untamed landscape with plenty of vegetation and a mini-trail, making it ideal for dog-friendly hiking and off-leash play.

This was a very STRANGE park. It’s actually quite large – long but narrow… but the park is overgrown and extremely muddy. They have planks across the path at the entrance, but the rest was soft, even after the dry spell we’ve had.

Oh… and parking is down the street, across the brook.

This is a great place to get a tick or devoured by mosquitos. It is a terrible place to play fetch with your dog! The place is so completely overgrown that dogs can’t even run around.

Love this dog park! We call it the “dog woods” because it isn’t just a grassy patch like many others, but instead a wooded area with a walking trail to follow your dog and supervise as they sniff, run, explore, and play with other dogs. Not very populated and we’ve only run into one to two other dogs each time we’ve gone. The vegetation is definitely a little overgrown, hence the 4 stars, but for a place run by volunteers I’d say it exceeds expectations! Casey and I love the dog woods 🐶

This is a great dog park that is generally underutilized, each time I’ve gone there have only been a few people and dogs. It’s set up like a mini trail with a lot of vegetation and would definitely get very muddy after any rain. It has water and is quite cool and shady on hot days.

Great big location by Shelburne farms. Hard to find. Parked in a location I wasn’t sure was ok. Beautiful landscape that isn’t heavily touched. My dog was nervous of the sheep near by lol
