Thompson Grove Park in Manalapan Township, NJ is a spacious, dog-friendly park offering pet owners a convenient place for recreation, socialization, and outdoor fun. The park features a dedicated dog park area with two fenced sections: one for large dogs and one for small dogs—perfect for letting your canine companions safely play and interact with others. Dog owners appreciate the park’s clean, well-maintained spaces and easy accessibility, with wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking.

Trails near the water and shaded areas invite both active pups and their owners to explore, relax, and enjoy nature. The park is also family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for families with children and pets looking for a day outdoors in Monmouth County.
We took our dog to the dog park section. It was clean, well maintained. I like that it has separate sections for small and big dogs. We had a bad experience in the past at a park that didn’t have separate areas. My dog enjoyed running around and playing with the other dogs.
Very nice park with walking trails just installed new disc golf course 18 hole
I love this park! Very clean and well maintained, with everything easily accessible. Our puppy loves the dog park, with 2 separate areas for large and small dogs. They are just the right size for bigger dogs to stretch their legs and for smaller dogs to get in a run.
Beautiful trails, fishing and a large open area with disc golf and picnic tables.
Nice place to let my puppy run around. Dog park consists of 2 separate fenced in areas. Usually quiet the few times I’ve come. A few other dogs there. Also there’s a nice section of the park near water to take the dog on a walk. Say hi to Jax our Setter Doodle!
I see that some people are getting confused about the size of this park. Let me clear this up a bit. “Thompson park” marker on Google maps is actually “Manalapan Dog park,” which is two fenced squares. One for large dogs, another for small dogs. Manalapan Dog park is located at the entrance and is part of “Thompson Grove park,” which is a much larger area. If you drive a little deeper into Thompson Grove park, there is another parking lot… sort of. From there, you will see a river on one side and on another a vast open field where dogs can run and play. The field is surrounded by small trees and bushes with multiple short trails weaving around this area. Note: Technically, your dog must be on the leash at all times, but many people let their four-legged friends roam free there. This is a large area with no fences, you may encounter deer and other people with their dogs, so use your judgment before taking a leash off. Last but not least, Thompson Grove park (not Manalapan Dog park) has two wooden gates that are closed at sunset. So, if you see a starry sky and you are still there, you know – you are walking home.
