If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Ocean County Park, located in Lakewood, New Jersey, is a spacious, pet-friendly destination ideal for dog owners and families alike. This well-maintained park offers an off-leash dog park area, making it perfect for those searching for a dog park in Lakewood, NJ or pet-friendly trails in Ocean County. Visitors rave about the expansive grounds with flat, stroller-friendly pathways through lush pine forests, a legacy of John D. Rockefeller’s former estate.
Unique features include onsite parking, wheelchair accessibility, and a large variety of recreational amenities such as hiking and kid-friendly picnic areas, sports courts, playgrounds, and swimmable beach. The park is well-known for its beautiful, tall trees offering ample shade, making it comfortable for both people and pets. Its off-leash area welcomes dogs to run and play, while pet owners appreciate the relaxing atmosphere and year-round access to nature trails and open spaces.
This is flagship county park in Ocean county in terms of amenities. While I prefer more secluded Wells Mills in this county’s park system, pleasant smell of white pines while hiking (legacy of being Rockefeller former vacation estate) is a major draw for me, and typical Pine Barren’s pitch pines just don’t have it.
This park was called before Pine Park when I was a kid, we would come out of the high school and go there to hang out. And the security guards would go looking for us. Those were the days. Its a great park and good memories!!
The Ocean County Parks and recreation department does such a wonderful job with events at this park. The biannual giant flea market really brings in a great crowd. And they always have a great food truck there. Another well maintained park with lots of amenities. They have a nice off leash dog park, disc golf area and much more.
LAKEWOOD: we have been quoted as saying that Lakewood is very congested, but you would never know it while enjoying all the nature that Ocean County Park has to offer. This park is huge and there are a lot of flat paths to walk on that meander through a disc golf course, a lake, tennis courts, and beautiful and very tall trees. This was once John D. Rockefeller’s vacation estate and if a park can be luxurious, this one is! There is even an off-leash dog park on-site and a K-9 police cemetery.
This is one of the most beautiful parks in Ocean County, with plenty of parking spaces. The beach is swimmable; but it does not always have a lifeguard on duty.
There are several trails inside. I enjoyed running with the scenic views.
