Located right in Sawyer, Michigan, Kamp Across From the Dunes offers RV campers and their furry friends a quiet, wooded getaway just minutes from the beach. This pet-friendly campground welcomes dogs and provides a serene base for exploring area attractions and pet-friendly trails. With full RV hookups, excellent bathroom facilities, and Wi-Fi, the park is perfect for those seeking a comfortable stay near Lake Michigan’s coast.
Families enjoy the clean, cozy cabins and on-site picnic tables, plus the convenience of onsite parking. Owners frequently praise the friendly, helpful staff for going above and beyond. While the park does not accept tent camping or provide a fenced off-leash dog area, guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to local businesses such as the Beach Bucket for treats next door. With its beautiful wooded environment and welcoming attitude towards pets, it’s an excellent choice for a dog-friendly camping experience in Sawyer.
The owners are so helpful and offer to help with anything a camper could need. The property is wonderfully wooded and cozy.
I was upset because I had been searching around and called this location and was looking for tent camping for a fun weekend with my wife.
The staff either was impatient or having a bad day and sounded kindof hasty explaining that there was no tent camping available anymore at the campground. To be fair, I hadn’t ever stayed there before, but was also surprised that they didn’t offer it. I guess some locations only do RV camping. But being new to camping, I have been learning where accepts tents and where doesn’t.
I had initially written a poor review in my frustration, but the owner corrected me, saying that because I hadn’t stayed at the location and that they haven’t offered tent camping in many years, it wasn’t fair to review poorly.
I do understand that reviews impact business, and I pride myself to offer fair reviews. I do think that the response to my review was also hasty to judge my point of view and was frustrated.
I deleted my previous review and will say that this place is probably a great place for RV’s and I won’t judge how beautiful it probably is there.
My brief interaction with what I had with them just left me sad.
We rented the ranch cabin for a couple of nights and it was clean and comfortable! Our boys loved the bunk beds! Owners were so welcoming and helpful. You have to bring your own bedding, but sleeping bags worked for our boys on the bunk beds. Must Dos: Get ice cream from the Beach Bucket next door and bring bug spray for the campfire at night.
Wonderful, quiet campground. You can’t beat the location. The bathroom facilities are excellent. The owners are friendly and very helpful. We spent 7 days here and have no complaints. Everything was great. This not the place to go if you are looking for the “campground” experience (scheduled activities and such). It is an excellent home base to explore the area and enjoy the beach while having full hook-up and water.
A fellow named Doug is the owner of this little park. He was very very helpful in getting us into our tight spot. He also helped me repair a broken mudflap on my motorhome.
It appears that 90% of the park is occupied by full-time fifth wheel or pull behind trailer occupants. I did see four or five other motorhomes in the park, but they also appear to be full-time.
For a small park, this was one of the cleanest and nicest I have seen in a long time. The Wi-Fi worked well, but no cable TV. There is no pool or hot tub, but the park is nicely laid out around a small pond in the middle. Great place for overnight stopping.
We were here in mid September 2021. I would definitely stop here again on my way to upper Michigan.
