Discover the scenic beauty of Michigan with your four-legged friend on the Empire Bluff Trail, a top choice for dog lovers searching for a dog park in Honor or pet-friendly trails in the area. This out-and-back trail offers an easy to moderate hike through shaded forests, blooming with trillium and wildflowers in season. Along the way, hikers and their pups are treated to stunning panoramic views of Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan at several overlooks. The hard-packed routes make walking a breeze, and the journey ends with breathtaking vistas that both you and your pet will love.
Empire Bluff Trail stands out for its dog-friendly hiking policy and natural shaded paths, making it a comfortable experience even on sunny days. While primarily a hiking trail rather than a typical fenced dog park, it provides ample benches for rest, public restrooms at the trailhead, and several spots with wooden planks for easier passage over sandy portions. It’s also a great option for families, with a kid-friendly route and plenty of picturesque locations to relax and take in the view. Remember to bring a leash and pack water for your canine companion, as there are no off-leash or fenced areas here.
Awesome trail conditions with majority in the shade on hard packed trail until the overlook. And then the views were spectacular.
A beautiful moderate hike in the woods. Lots of trillium and wild flowers along the trail. Picturesque views of Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan at the turn around point. A wooden plank pathway assists hikers at the sandiest portion of the path with a few wooden benches placed to relax and enjoy the view. A great way to see the lakebed contours and get a bit of exercise.
Amazing views!! Definitely an easy enough hike as well! If you’re there, walk further up the top of the hills. Such a gorgeous view!
Another breath taking view! This was a nice 1.5 mile round trip hike with minimal hills! There are two great overlooks along the trail! This trail is also dog friendly! 10/10 recommend this trail! Especially for the doggos!
Absolutely beautiful scenic views at the end. A quiet hike through the woods that isn’t too difficult, and then suddenly you’re looking at a panoramic view of Lake Michigan. Beautiful even on cloudy days like today. I’d suggest hiking past the log that most people stop at, as there’s a trail that continues on for quite a ways with some beautiful views at the end.
