I didn’t ride the trail. It’s currently blocked and under construction/improvement from Bloomingdale to South Haven I believe. I went to the trail head area to watch and photograph an Easter Egg Hunt put in by the Bloomingdale Area Historic Association (B.A.H.A.). The local kids had a blast! There is a museum, a relocated school house and a large pavillion.

The Kal-Haven Trail is in the process of being completely revamped!! There were many trees that came down during the fall and winter of 2023 and thus far through 2024!! They’ve widened the trail after cutting the trees and have put down new rocks. I don’t know if their putting in new restrooms as the trail has been closed despite the signs saying such people are ignoring them!! That’s causing more harm than good for them!! Little lone the money and time that it takes for them to redo the work that was previously completed!! They have deadlines like anyone else on a construction site!! So please don’t avoid the sign!! The sooner you stay off the trail the quicker they can complete it!!

By far the coolest part on the Kal-haven trail! It’s paved all the way through Bloomingdale, there’s plenty of benches, garbage receptacles and a couple of bathrooms in this area (the bathrooms were clean and stocked with toilet paper!!)

Partially paved, mostly packed gravel, my road bike with 23mm wide tires did just fine on the trail. Well maintained and there is a ton of rest stops along the way.
