Located in the heart of Berea, Ohio, the Berea Railfanning Area is a unique and accessible local spot perfect for pet owners and railfans alike. With wheelchair-accessible parking and plenty of ample parking space, it’s an easy and welcoming place for families and their dogs to spend time outdoors. The park is well-loved for its close proximity to active railroad tracks, offering frequent train sightings that keep both kids and adults entertained.
Dogs are welcome at this pet-friendly park, making it a convenient stop for those looking for dog-friendly areas near Cleveland and Berea. There’s no fencing, so be sure to keep your dogs leashed, and bring your own seating and shade supplies, especially during the warmer months as the area can get hot. Although the park lacks restrooms and covered shelter, visitors appreciate its open space, abundance of parking, and easy access for people of all abilities.
My son loves trains! And this spot is great for it! We came all the way from toronto twice just to visit this spot. Each time we saw many trains, mostly ns and csx. But some bnsf, cp, and cn as well. Some hours there are a train every 5 mins. Ample parking, good area, but can get hot from lack of shade during the summer. No bathroom though – closest one is the dunkin 2 mins away. Great for photos since there’s no fence. But Can’t fly drone due proximity to the airport. Bring your own seating and lots of iced drinks! And enjoy the trains!
Great place to watch trains
Still one of the most accessible and auto-friendly locations to watch and experience the rush of CSX & Norfolk Southern freight traffic on multiple sets of railroad tracks! It’s a shame the restaurant adjacent to the trackside parking area is now up for sale. I hope the new owners will be as friendly and accommodating to railfans as were the owners of The Berea Depot / Berea Station Restaurant.
One of my favorite places around me to railfan. If you have an ultralight drone, bring it! Just stay under 100-200 feet and your in the clear.
Fun place to watch trains. You can see CSX and NS go by with a mix of foreign rail daily
