Grand Haven Dog Beach: A Dog-Friendly Gem on Lake Michigan

Grand Haven Dog Beach is a popular destination for dog owners looking for a pet-friendly beach experience along the shores of Lake Michigan. This unique beach, located at the Grand Haven City Beach area, allows dogs before 11am and after 5pm during the busy summer season, making it a perfect spot for early morning or sunset beach outings with your furry friend. While dogs are restricted from 11am to 5pm, the off-peak hours provide ample room for them to run, play, and enjoy the sand and water with other dogs.

The beach is known for its cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere, and though it is not exclusively a dog park, it offers a great opportunity for both dogs and families to relax and socialize. There is no direct parking at the dog beach, but visitors can conveniently park near Noto’s and walk down. Be mindful of hours for dogs to be allowed. They are only allowed at certain times. Great, clean beach though.

✋Don’t bother bringing your dog unless it’s before 11 am or after 5 pm. ⛔11-5 pm is when dogs are restricted from the beach. I parked and walked to this beach only to read this sign 🙄

I’m with the other reviewers. Why is this called a dog beach when it isn’t exclusively one? This beach is is simply an extension of the Grand Haven City Beach.

The city of Grand Haven allows dogs at the beach during non-busy hours during the summer.

It’s a pretty awesome spot.

Very clean little beach that’s great for dogs. There’s no direct parking, so you can park at Noto’s & walk down. Definitely enjoyed being here and playing with the other dogs that were there. My kids also had a really good time.

EXTRA – Was there from 1:30 to 5, during “no dog hours” and there were 6 other dogs there in that time… Including a super awesome Great Dane.

People need to realize this “dog beach” is just the grand haven city beach after 5pm. I’d say we’re lucky enough the entire beach (which is huge) is dog friendly for the entire night. Probably too hot to bring a dog to the beach before 5 anyways.. dogs can run around and play while you watch the sunset.
