🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Bill Witt Dog Park is a top-rated dog park in Corpus Christi, Texas, located at 7718 Dalmation Dr. This dog-friendly location offers a spacious experience for both large and small dogs, with two separate fenced areas to ensure a safe and controlled environment for play. Pet owners love visiting due to its well-maintained grounds, frequent doggy meetups, and amenities that make every trip enjoyable and comfortable.
The park is equipped with water fountains and bowls for thirsty pups, waste bag stations that are usually well stocked, and numerous toys on-site. While it offers shaded areas and some seating for comfort, one standout feature (and frequent request) is the park’s extended hours—open until 10pm, which is convenient for those with busy schedules. However, visitors should note that the dog park is closed on Mondays and currently does not have sufficient lighting, making after-dark visits less safe. Local dog owners have praised the friendly community vibe and the cleanliness of the park, but urge improvements in security lighting to make it even better.
The dogs loved this park! They got to run freely and play without me having to worry about them stepping in grass stickers. They also had toys available, doggy bags and a water fountain.
I would just recommend adding lights for when it is dark outside. There was one motion detection light on the large dog side but not bright enough for the small dog side.
When we went a second time, the hours were not posted online so we didn’t know it was closed Mondays.
One of pur favorites. Nice area for the dogs of both sizes.(we use the small). They had water bowls and toys..some shade! Clean and inviting
This dog park is a great size on both sides. Having it divided was a really great idea! The pet stations with the bags to pick up after your dog is always full but not everyone picks up their dogs waste. On Monday’s when they are closed, I suggest they not only pick up the dog waste but always treat the grounds and benches, basically everything in the dog park. The biggest downfall is NO lighting at night, when lighting should be a top priority especially since the park is open until 10pm and the location of the dog park. Being open that late is so great for many of us that aren’t able to go at earlier times in the day. When I was there with my daughter and our dog and no one else was there one night, a car parked next to mine and someone got out of that vehicle attempting to open my car door, which was locked. When I started yelling at them asking what they are doing and then starting to approach them, 3 other people got out of that car and started approaching us, I was terrified. Not only did my dog start barking and growling at them, which is not normal, but luckily another vehicle was driving up and they went back to their car and left. We decided to give it another try and that time, a vehicle was constantly circling the parking lot area. We do not feel safe enough to go back until there is bright security lighting installed. This dog park really needs some good lighting, bright security lights especially due to the location. There are NO lights at this dark park and it is in a location that is needed the most. There are so many people that have reported the lighting issue and nothing has been done. There was actually 2 sensor lights removed, which never actually worked anyways. There is no lighting at all. We went by tonight to check on the lighting and it was pitch dark and open but didn’t stop. The person in the park with their dog was having to use their flashlight on their phone. With better clean up and treatments to the entire park area, but most of all the security lights would make this the #1 dog park in Corpus Christi, no doubt about it. Pleassseeee make these upgrades so we and many others can enjoy this dog park again! 🙏
Nice place they had dogs bowls for water and a fountain so you can refill them. They have an area for large and small dogs.
This place is my dogs’ favorite. It’s closed on Monday. And it gets very crowded around 5-6pm.
My dogs love to play with other dogs, so I usually take my dogs here around that time.
There is a big dog park and a small dog park. Mostly, all the dogs are well-trained. Owners take care of their dog well. So, I am comfortable with bringing my dogs to this dog park at any time.
