Katy Trail – Treloar Trailhead is a scenic entry point to Missouri’s renowned Katy Trail, located in Marthasville, Missouri. While not a traditional dog park with fenced enclosures, this trailhead provides pet-friendly hiking and walking opportunities, making it a favorite for dog owners seeking outdoor adventures with their pets. Dogs will enjoy long, shaded stretches of trail, encounters with nature, and plenty of space to explore on-leash.
Visitors appreciate the ample parking, well-maintained trail, and peaceful environment. The area is especially beautiful in the fall and early spring, offering views of bluffs and occasional river vistas. While amenities are limited—there is no water at the trailhead and services in nearby communities can be sparse—this spot’s seclusion and natural setting make it ideal for those looking for a true Missouri dog-friendly hiking experience.
Great little store full of history and a park ranger in the to answer any of your questions
Well maintained trail. Only had time to walk a mile of it. Dogs enjoyed meeting a turtle and chasing baby frogs that were everywhere.
Beautiful trailhead and area with very limited services… Treloar Bar and Grill is now closed since their establishment was badly damaged by flash flooding in the area in 2024. No water at TH.
Plenty of parking, restroom, safe area. We often ride from Trelor to the west on the Kathy Trail. In the summer. it is only sunny for first two miles and then shady until almost to Case, an community (no services) on the map but not a town you see from the trail. Another Community is Gore (no services) about two miles east of Case. You can park your car in some parking areas next to the trail near Case. Close to Gore there is a sign that points up a drive to a wonderful little winery, called Lost Creek Vineyards. Call the phone number on the sign before you go up that short but quite steep drive., to make sure they are open!
The ride from Trelor to Case is maybe 12 miles of deep shade often with very big bluffs that moderate the temperature and Missouri River comes up next to the trail. Other sections of the trail have sloughs, and by mid June expect some mosquitoes if you stop where they are next to the Katy. No bother if you keep riding. This area is most beautiful in the fall or early spring when the summer leaves are less dense and you can see the bluffs and better see the Missouri River, but some of the most comfortable miles on a summer day.
