🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Granville Dog Park offers a beautiful, nature-inspired setting for dogs and their owners looking for pet-friendly trails in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This secluded park features winding, unpaved hiking trails through wooded areas, complete with moderate to steep inclines and plenty of opportunities for dogs to explore off-leash. The park’s shallow river provides a fun swim area for adventurous pups, but it’s best to bring a towel just in case your dog dives in!
What sets Granville Dog Park apart is its peaceful, almost solitary vibe—ideal for those seeking a quiet escape from the city. There are benches and shaded spots where owners can relax while their dogs enjoy the natural surroundings. While the park is not ideal for large, group play, it’s perfect for energetic dogs who love to hike and roam off-leash with their humans, all just a short drive from downtown Milwaukee. Please remember that the trails can get muddy after rain, and keep an eye out for ticks and mosquitoes during the warmer months.
It’s a beautiful place although it’s next to the freeway and you can hear the cars. The trails are very enclosed and there really isn’t much space for dogs to run and interact with each other however it is a fun place to hike around with the dog and they can jump in and out of the river in a few spots. If you want to go for a walk with your dog this is the perfect spot! If you want your dog to run and play and chase other dogs and be chased then this is not the one.
My dog and I love it here. Bring your hiking boots because it gets muddy.
We’ve been going to this park on and off for 6 years and really enjoy it. Lots of trails and hills, perfect for an active dog to run around and get exercise. It can get muddy, and the area by the creek will tend to be swampy, but our dog loves to get in the water and we enjoy the seats and shade. Beware of ticks in the spring, and mosquitoes as expected through the warm months. Please support the park and pay your entry fee or become a member.
Clean off leash hiking trails with a shallow river
Moderate and some steep inclines
Beautiful views
Lots of space for pups to roam around
Park benches for humans to rest
Trails aren’t paved
River looked clean, shallow and calm
Moses approved!
Bring a towel just in case your pup dives in the water like mine!
Very naturesque dog park. Very woodsy and great if you’re going for a nature feel. Unfortunate that the highway is so loud😒
Trails are small and great if you want to nature hike with your puppy, mine prefers the big open parks as she wants play with ALL the dogs. This is great if you’d prefer a more solitaryish setting.
