Ironically we started coming up the year Alver took over, and have been coming back ever since. Each year the resort gets a little better with things like added AC units, the beds are comfortable and cabins clean. If you like to catch fish LOTW is the place.
The resort also serves its own version of a Paella once a week that is excellent.
Spent the last week enjoying Oak Island Resort and the first class walleye fishing in Lake of The Woods. The owner is great to work with when we were planning our days. The coffee bar offers a nice change from the standard coffee fare. The fish house is a great place to swap stories of the Big one that got away.
I’ve stayed at Oak Island Resort almost every year since 1991. The fishing is the biggest attraction. If you like to catch fish this is the place. The resort is an old fashion mom and pop family resort, bring your groceries and every thing else is provided. If you bring your boat. the docks are great, secured with a rock break water, with electric hook ups. The cabins are comfortable and quiet. Eighteen foot Lund rental boats are available with new 60hsp four stroke motors. For thirty plus years I keep coming back, that says something about a resort!
An excellent place for a retreat with the family or friends. Not a 5 star resort. But there is peace and quiet with excellent service. The fishing is awesome in both Minnesota and Canada. This is our first trip, but hopefully not the last. 👍👍👍👍👍 to Alver and his staff.
We’ve stayed at Oak Island Resort twice now and already have our next trip booked. We can’t wait to come back! The fishing is excellent on both the Canadian and U.S. sides. The cabins and resort are clean, quiet, and well-maintained. Alver and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The docks are protected and equipped with electric hookups, and the fish cleaning station is clean with everything you need. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great fishing getaway!
