Anchor Town Park in Lido Beach, New York, is a vibrant community park best known for its welcoming atmosphere for families and individuals of all ages. While its main features include accessible playgrounds, a shallow kiddie pool, and scenic dunes leading to the beach, it offers open grounds and ample green space perfect for leisurely dog walks and outdoor gatherings. Parking is easy and access is straightforward, making it a popular pick for locals looking to enjoy a pet-friendly day out.
What makes Anchor Town Park unique is its seasonal use: for most of the summer, the park transforms into a dedicated camp for individuals with special needs, restricting access to the public amenities. However, during the off-camp weeks—typically six weeks outside of summer—the grounds, including the playground and baseball field, are open to everyone. Families visiting with pets will find it a clean, well-maintained spot ideal for evening outings or sunset strolls with their dogs in the heart of Lido Beach.

Beautiful beach

easy access and parking
not available most of the summer since it is used by the Anchor program

now we bring the grandchildren
The camp is the best around for children and adults with special needs. When the camp is not in session (6 weeks), the grounds are open to the public where there is a playground and baseball field. Fantastic crew that keeps the location clean and tidy.
It is a great place for families. It has shallow pool for the little kids, that is free. It has playground, showers, nice dunes while walking to the beach and the most importantly you can boogie board. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is when the summer camp Ancor starts half of the beach is closed and you can’t use the amenities.
