Ocean Beach Park is a well-maintained gem located in Long Beach, New York, offering wide sandy beaches, a scenic boardwalk, and pet-friendly stretches that locals and visitors appreciate. Right on the oceanfront, this park is known for its clean facilities and expansive boardwalk, making it a perfect spot for dog owners seeking a relaxing outing with their pups. While not exclusively a dog park, Ocean Beach Park is recognized for its pleasant atmosphere, plenty of space for leashed walks, and proximity to pet-friendly amenities.
The park stands out for its accessibility and cleanliness. Visitors mention the ease of parking (especially in the evenings) and the well-kept boardwalk ideal for walking or biking with your dog. With bathrooms available and the beach regularly maintained by the park department, Ocean Beach Park is a go-to destination for dog owners looking for a safe and enjoyable environment. However, like any public space in a city, visitors should stay mindful of their surroundings, especially at night.
September 2022
One of the widest, smoothest, cleanest boardwalks I have ever walked on. I walked a few miles along the beach and boardwalk on a lovely September afternoon, and it was wonderful. I’d like to come back and experience the area during the summer, but for my short visit when passing through, it was very enjoyable. The beach is clean and spacious with very soft sand.
Beautiful area. The park department keeps the boardwalk and beach clean. You can actually use the restrooms. The views are awesome. Just do not swim in the red flag area. Rip tides are strong. Plus, do not climb on the jetty. They will take you off.
First time visit and loved it. Truly a hidden gem not many people know about. It was clean, the bathrooms were stocked and the restaurant had everything you can choose from. Our trip itinerary was visiting Block Island while staying in New London, CT and took the ferry from there.
It has literally been years since I last visited this beach. I used to always come here before I discovered the Jersey Shore. I always liked coming to this beach. It was always well maintained, and the sand was clean. I happened to come here on a Friday morning, and it was surprisingly quiet, which I prefer. I purchased my daily pass online for NULL + a fee (which is pretty steep), and I showed it to the nice young man at the booth. The boardwalk is nice for walking and bicycling, but there are really no food options, and the restrooms are far apart in distance. There is plenty of free street parking that is close to the boardwalk, which is a major plus. I will be sure to visit again in the future if I don’t feel like driving to NJ for a beach day.
I went at 1am and honestly it was pretty nice and relaxing, only saw 3 ppl total and a robbery.
Note: there was a robbery of a girls purse and she came to us to ask for help and we guided her to the police station (not sure what we could do at 1am)
Pro tip: a lot of parking during night but please bring a knife or any type of self defense and do not come alone. At least have a party, during night time it is not safe.
