It is a nice place in some areas – but it needs some work. Overgrown on the opposite bank, with scum floating in the water, and bird excrement everywhere. Photo is of a nicer area.
Quaint little park. Great place for a quiet walk and watch the geese and swans. Paved path and a small fishing dock at the far end of the park. There’s a small parking lot closer to Merrick ave. Since there are a lot of geese, there’s quite a bit of geese poop all around.
Beautiful pond and park located in South Merrick. Great for bird watching and simply a getaway from a busy work day. Parking is free and location is great. I would recommend grabbing a drink at Starbucks or an ice cream at a local ice cream shop and simply lowering your windows and enjoying the warm weather and sights of the park or taking a stroll around the pond.
We have the Best pond in Merrick ! Great place to walk or jog or run and a healthy environment Do not feed the Geese ! Only feed swans and ducks ! Thanks to the South Merrick Community for keeping Commands Pond Great and clean !
Easy winter weekend parking at small parking lot off Merrick Rd. Large variety of geese and ducks utilizing pond and fair number of bird watchers hunting for photos. Paved walk along half of the park’s perimeter (no loop) with few benches, under 20 mins overall.
