Parking lot was full of crying children who were expecting to go to a fun splash pad and were turned away at the entrance for living in the wrong town (which was not made clear online). We weren’t the only family who made this mistake. We could hardly believe that such a policy could exist where children are not permitted to go to a PUBLIC PARK 15 minutes from their home. I don’t know what prompted this policy on the part of the park but I find it incredible. If the goal is to ensure an empty park without happy kids, they have achieved it- I didn’t even see anyone using the splash pad when we tried to go.

Nice splash park playground and the little community center for town residence of Hempstead, there are public restrooms. Everything seems handicap accessible.

It’s true that access was restricted. If you scroll down through the reviews, you’ll find that someone has posted a photo of the list of permitted town names. It’s a good idea to check that photo before visiting.
I understand that the restriction was likely put in place to avoid confusion due to the large number of visitors, but I do wonder if there might have been other ways to manage the situation so that people wouldn’t be disappointed. Given how excellent the park facilities are, I do hope the rules will be reconsidered in the future.

There is something to do for all ages. Kids playground, which includes swings, rock climbing, a bridge, etc. Then you have things for those who are older. Including basketball courts, a tennis court, a handball court, and a baseball field. There’s even sections for bike riding, chess, checkers, ping pong, and a workout area. There’s a small water themed area. There are shaded sitting areas. It’s definitely a place to enjoy a day out with the family.
