Great place to go hiking while in NYC…there is no water hole on this side of Woodhaven Blvd. You’ll have to go to the West Side of Woodhaven for that.

Breathtaking natural scenery. Long
trails, very clean environment. Lots of birds and other animals such as raccoons. I recommend walking with a pair of binoculars.

This was one of the coolest places I’ve ever walked through.

I hiked here one day from Richmond Hill to Woodhaven and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. It felt like I was in a whole other state. I don’t remember ever feeling this kind of peace anywhere in NYC. Sure, there are other parks in NYC that have a nice atmosphere, but everywhere else also tends to have a lot of people, so even when it’s quiet, you never get that amazing feeling of isolation.

I would 100% recommend walking through here to anyone and everyone. It is worth mentioning that I walked through here on a weekday afternoon so I would imagine that it isn’t always as peaceful or isolating, but it’s still worth it!

Also, this was not a difficult trail by any means. There’s a clearly defined set path. I broadly navigated using Google Maps on my phone and ended up where I needed to go. Also, I managed to go off the path here and there and didn’t have any problems. And I was wearing dress shoes and pants as I had just finished a job interview nearby.
