Blocked off at the location Google takes you to- the trail entrance is further down the road behind the college. Beautiful wetlands trail. Lots of turtles sunbathing around! Not super long so it is better for walking than running/jogging.
Beautiful place to just walk around and just enjoy the scenery, especially if you like plants and creatures. No extras and I mean that in the best way. No restrooms either that I could see but also I exspected that. There’s also trash bins at the end of each trail so we can help keep the area beautiful! 😉
A hidden gem tucked away behind the College of Albemarle. A place for yourself and close friends; this scenic beauty may be short lived but its’ impact is everlasting. About 3.3k steps back to back.
Part of my running route several times a week. Kayak put-in is a great feature (FYI, upstream easier to paddle than down due to prevailing wind). Gorgeous scenery and serene feel. Has been refurbished on a regular basis and improvements made as well. Although closed at sunset, it feels safe at any time (much of the trail has surveillance cameras).
