Not much more than a gravel road that ends at a levee and a service road that allows you to scale (on foot) the levee. The (very) short service road ends at the river. There is a small spillway jutting out, into the river here, but when I visited, it was completely underwater. Had it not been for several downed trees and/or branch’s stranded on it, I wouldn’t have known that it was there. There were a couple of people fishing when I was there, but the only evidence of actual fish that I saw was a couple of (good sized) Asian Carp that had been pulled from the river.
If you are ‘confined to’ a wheelchair, you would not have been able to reach the river. Even if you’d been able to scale the levee (I wouldn’t have been able to). there is a locked gate to prevent unauthorized vehicles from passing, that would have also blocked a wheelchair.
While this wasn’t my ideal way to spend an afternoon and I doubt that I’d return, the fishermen here seemed to be having a good time, and it did have a pretty nice, scenic view of the river.
Can’t complain for a free overnight spot to park with some pit toilets, picnic area, and yeah cans. They even had TP!!
Honestly love going here, sitting down and fishing with friends. Great scenery by far, it’s relaxing and peaceful
Great little spot in the boonies away from civilization. Allows camping in the lot for up to 14 days. There’s bathrooms and trash, so please pick up after yourself. Access to the Mississippi River, with great sunset views. A good fishing spot that seems only used by a few locals. The maintenence guy was very nice when he came by.
