We approached John B Mountain from the NE corner of Horseshoe Cove locally called Long Cove, where we landed our dinghy. We located the spur trail with the help of a local gentleman kind enough to point us in the right direction.
The hiking is gentle, the trails are well maintained, and the views from the top are great. The total hike of the spur, loop, and wandering about the summit was probably less than 3 miles or 50 minutes.
There are two small parking areas one of which is right at the loop portion of the trail.
