Dorrance Park is a welcoming community dog park located in Port Byron, IL. It offers a friendly environment for dogs and their owners to socialize and enjoy outdoor activities together.
I’m reviewing Dorrance Park explicitly for its mountain biking trails, maintained by QC FORC. There are three main MB trails: Oakley Dokely (beginner), Loam Ranger (intermediate), and Uncle Rukus (expert). I am a beginner and have completed the beginner and intermediate trails, but abandoned the expert trail about half way through when I discovered it was a bit too much for my current skill level.
At any rate, the trails are flowy and very nice to ride with plenty of features and variations in elevation (but nothing too extreme). The beginner and intermediate full loop is a LOT of fun and takes less than 20 minutes at a fairly slow speed. Even better, Dorrance Park is right off of the main river trail that goes all the way to the Quad Cities (which is where I ride from if I don’t drive). And Illiniwek is less than a half hour ride from Dorrance as well.
Close neighborhood playground that we can walk to from our house! Sort of small, but it’s clean and well taken care of.
Make sure to check out the many trails surrounding it!
Wonderful hiking, while designed for Mountain Bikes, it is a wonderful hike in the woods. Trails were in good condition. Went on a Sunday and it wasn’t busy, a few other hikers.
This is one of my favorites places I’ve been in the QC! Multiple trails of varying difficulty in the park that connect to each other. My favorites are definitely the harder ones loam Ranger and Unkle Ruckus. Plenty of parking, dogs allowed on leashes and mountain bikes welcome. Many, many ramps for mountain bikers. Absolutely can’t wait to come back in the fall! Also a beautiful wildflower preserve right next to the parking lot!
We came to this location for my son’s last little league baseball game of the season. The way this park is played out is very cool. It was clean and well taken care of. The concession staff was very nice. It’s been many years since I played ball at Dorrance park and it was a pleasure to see my son’s team play there now.
