Bring the kids and a picnic for Monday night jazz. Plenty of room to roam. America’s first funded park has big trees for shade and a free carousel for the kids. My favorite summer outdoor concerts are right here.

One of the oldest public municipal parks in the US, it’s located in the heart of the city. There’s limited roadside parking, and we had to cross the street to get to it.
The water in the moat is full of algae, and the fountains are doing a good job of keeping it as clean as possible. There are benches for people to sit and take on the view. There were sparrows taking mud baths, which was very cute to watch as there’s water right next to them. But there’s a purpose to it.
There were a few shady characters and a couple of guys who were riding their scooters inside the park very loudly. Was not sure how it was permitted in the park. Never seen a motorized vehicle in any park before.

We went for the Hartford Jazz Festival 2025 and it was awesome. Everything was well organized.

Definitely a Jewel in Hartford. Probably a lot better in the Spring and Summer. The different varieties of trees are all marked. There are lots of memories from the course of American history. I’m glad I had time to stop and read the signs. I hope Hartford keeps coming back.

Some free parking near the Capital. Has a play area, historical statues & architecture. No vantage point to get a photo but still has a beautiful BLACK LIVES MATTER mural on the entry, which was very cool to see in person. ❤️
