Tom Sawyer Dog Park is a popular, permit-only dog park located in the heart of Louisville, KY, at 3109 Freys Hill Rd. This dog park is well-known among local pet owners for its spacious grounds, separate areas for small and large dogs, and a short loop hiking trail offering opportunities for both dog-friendly exercise and pet-friendly walks in nature. Designed with safety in mind, the park is fenced and admission is controlled via a key fob system, providing peace of mind for regular visitors concerned about security and dog park etiquette.
The park features gazebos for shelter, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, and plenty of open space, making it ideal for letting your dog run off-leash, socialize, and burn off energy. While some supplies like water and poop bags are community provided and may be limited, visitors are encouraged to bring their own. It’s important to note that only permitted users can access the dog park, ensuring a more exclusive and safe environment for your pup. If you’re looking for dog-friendly parks in Louisville with controlled access, Tom Sawyer Dog Park is a top pick for locals.
I appreciate that just any dog from where ever can’t get access to the dog park. It is nice and yes people pay for the access as it’s safer. For those out of town, take your dog to the waterfront, you’ll enjoy the view so much more and it’s free. Look at that, brokie!
Love the dog park here! Good experience for our pup so far, he loves the gazebos. We call it his pit stop. He’d run to each one first and waits for us then runs again. Plenty of space for exercise. Make sure to pick up your dogs poop to prevent spread of diseases!!
2nd dog park we’ve tried in this town that requires a permit to enter. Pretty much if you don’t live in this town and aren’t stupid enough pay for a public park permit don’t stop here. Didn’t used to be this way. Explains why both dog parks were empty anyways.
Don’t come, you’re not welcome!!! It’s protected by a key fob. Of your dog needs exercise after a 3 hour trip, you can not get it! Don’t waste your time!!!
Awesome dog park. Lots of different environments for your dog to roam. Small and large dog areas. Short loop “hiking” trail. Bring your own poop bags and water- only community donated bags on site for emergencies.
