If you’re looking for a spacious, pet-friendly outdoor spot in Anchorage, Alaska, Valley of the Moon Dog Park is a local favorite among dog owners. Located near downtown, this dog park offers a large, fully fenced area where your canine companions can play and socialize off-leash. The open field receives plenty of sun, making it a generally dry place for active pups to enjoy a good run. Friendly dogs and welcoming pet owners help create a social atmosphere, and the river nearby adds calming sounds to your visit.
The park is wheelchair accessible, equipped with a sturdy fence, and includes convenient amenities such as picnic tables, a playground for kids, and waste stations with poop bags and trash cans, making it family-friendly and practical. While there’s no dedicated water fountain for dogs, pet parents will find community toys (though their cleanliness may vary) and one picnic table available. It’s a great spot for a dog-friendly hike, or to simply let your four-legged friend get some exercise in Anchorage.
Once again this little park offers everything..and a little gated area for your k-9 friend’s…it not for catts..😇😸
The fence was sturdy and it was a large area. The downside is that it has not been mowed or maintained. There are “community” toys everywhere, which were dirty and gross. I don’t want them in my dogs’ mouths! One picnic table, but no water for the dogs. There were poop bags and a trash can, so that’s awesome. It wouldn’t take a lot to turn this park around and make it a nice place. It just wasn’t that today.
Lovely dog park, a handful of people were there and the river nearby sounds wonderful
Out puppy 🐶 loves this park. Large area for play. The dogs are friendly and cute.
Love getting my dog a full-on run without losing sight of him. You can easily see if there are other dogs to play with. Nice open field that gets lots of sun, so generally dry. Only downside is the landmines left by sucky dog parents, even tho bags are on site.
