Totally awesome state park! I took the blue trail and highly recommend it. It has some moderate climbs but nothing a 60 year old guy can’t handle. Lots of awe inspiring scenery as well.
This is a great 4 mile hike I would absolutely do again. There are plenty of elevation changes with a few different trail types to walk on. I liked that there were a couple of places with water to see and hear, but no where near enough to get in. We went in late May and there were tons of flowers of many different colors with mushrooms and a variety of wildlife to see, such as frogs, newts, butterflies and a host of different birds. The hike took about 2:20 for us to finish. At the parking lot there was a great shaded pavilion with a fantastic view where we were able to enjoy a lovely lunch.
Great 4 mile round trip hike that leads down to canyons and streams. The trail is rated a 3 in on difficulty. The trail was mostly quiet and peaceful as I only encounter a handful of others hiking on the trail. Definitely recommend! Would be better after a hard rain.
It’s a wonderful walk in the woods! Went clockwise so that I would get the canyon as a treat near the end. Every time I questioned which way the trail went there was a red blaze letting me know I was on the right path. Elevation is just enough to get your heart rate up but not enough where you feel like you are going to die. Lol Saw a few people and everyone seemed to have a dog. Most were on leashes some were not. Will be back to check in out in the Winter and Spring.
Update: Back again in late Winter. Hit the connector trail to make it a leisurely 2.5 miles. Still a great hike
Fantastic trail!! Beautiful all year, but nice for a winter hike: 1) The trail is well trodden and easy to follow with only a few rocky/steep sections to navigate unless you go off trail. 2) The cedars, pines, moss and lichen add a bit of green to the scenery. 3) Icicles are beginning to form and should offer a nice display by late winter. 4) Easy creek crossings. — Be sure to check out the canyon!! Photos cannot do it justice.
