I went for the first time today and had a great time. She’s a small pit-mix which I was worried would bother other people but everyone seemed more concerned with their own dog’s behavior. The hour or so I was there Sunday morning had maybe a dozen dogs come in and everyone was nice, dogs and owners. I’m sorry I haven’t been there sooner.
There are a couple paid self-service dog washing booths (like a self-service car wash) that someone there said was excellent but I didn’t see how much it cost. It looked nice, though, if one wanted to clean their dog without mucking up their bathroom or having to use a hose outside.
Highly Recommended.
Great new dog park in Carbondale right in Parrish Park by the soccer fields. Lots of space for pups to run and there are benches and poo bag stations.
I stopped in this park today to give my dog a break from a long car ride. I can’t say enough good things! The park is huge, and the “large” dog side is ever larger. There are a few different benches scattered about with shade. There is water fountain with bowl built in (on the large dog side, looked like it wasn’t done yet on the small dog side). The people I encountered were very friendly. There are “poop bags” available. And, there were toys strewn about, not sure if they were just left of donated, but it was a nice addition. Also, there is one of dog wash “trailer” things right there in the park also. And, look at an aerial photo, it’s friggin shaped like a dog bone!
This park is huge and has two separated sections for larger and smaller dogs. There is a water hose and bowls. There were benches in the shade and it was a perfect place to bring the dogs to catch up with old friends. I remember when these used to be the soccer fields! There are cool big rocks back where we used to do penalty kicks.
Would be a great dog park, except it is ALWAYS muddy. Something desperately needs to be done about the drainage issues. This pic was taken on a dry day when there were no puddles or ground water anywhere except in the dog park.
