Walter Haas Dog Play Area in San Francisco, California

Walter Haas Dog Play Area is a popular fenced dog park located in the Diamond Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Known for its welcoming community and dog-friendly environment, the park features a small, enclosed area with artificial turf, making it easy for your pet to stay clean while enjoying off-leash play. The park is especially loved by owners of small and friendly dogs, and it remains a reliable choice when other parks, like Douglass St, are temporarily closed.

The park is wheelchair accessible, with both the entrance and parking lot accommodating visitors with mobility challenges. Owners appreciate the easy parking and the dog water fountain, though you may want to bring your own water as the fountain can sometimes be unclean. While the park generally maintains a tidy atmosphere, some users mention occasional leftover dog waste and recommend bringing extra poop bags, as they are not provided on-site. Plan for chilly, windy weather and enjoy meeting friendly locals and their pets in this clean, convenient spot for dog lovers in San Francisco.

Love this dog park!! Just what I need, small fenced-in turf ground with very nice people and dogs. Wish they would clean it completely like the notice says they are going to. Frequently left over dog poop all over the turf. Everyone is great at pick up after their dogs but often you cannot get it all and after a day a week or a few weeks, this is all over and ruins this beautiful dog park. The dog water fountain is never cleaned and is often not draining. Very nasty but dogs need water and drink it. Love this great park just clean all the park weekly as indicated.
ALSO, lights for evening dog play would be a great addition for safety for all dogs and people!!!!!!!

Love this dog park! It’s a good size and is in a nice area. I like that it has fake grass because it keeps the park (and my dog) clean.

Pretty small but clean. Major issues with dog walkers who have too many dogs to control and get angry at you if your dog follows them around bc they have treats on their belts. I’d go later in the day if you want to avoid 6-8 dog walkers with AT LEAST 8 dogs each…

Do you have a small dog? If yes, you should definitely check out Walter Hass! Fenced in small dog park!
Lots of cute, small friendly dogs.

BRING POOP BAGS AND A JACKET! This park is often windy and cold! No free poop bags unlike the Mission Bay dog park.

I find that the best time to go is 11-12 or an hour before sunset. Parking is easy!

Small enclosed dog park with fake grass. Usually a lot of dogs and a good option when Douglass St dog park is closed on Wednesdays.
