Flat Rock Park Dog Run – A Picturesque Dog Park in Kerrville, Texas

Flat Rock Park Dog Run is one of Kerrville’s best spots for dog lovers seeking wide-open space, beautiful river views, and opportunities for their pups to run free. Located at 125 Redemption Rd, this dog-friendly gem sits alongside the Guadalupe River, offering pet-friendly trails and a long, natural dog run lined with mature trees that provide ample shade. Whether you’re in town or visiting from nearby cities, it’s a must-visit for letting your dogs sprint, explore, or take a refreshing dip.

What makes Flat Rock Park truly unique is the off-leash freedom and direct river access, allowing energetic dogs to swim or just play by the water’s edge. Owners appreciate the natural setting, shady spots, and the fact that the area is enclosed by brush and the river—making it a safe, scenic space for outdoor adventures. However, be advised: while there is fencing on one side, there are open river banks, so pups with high wanderlust should be supervised. Parking is available near the river boat ramp, with signs to direct you in the right direction just past the creek bridge at the end of the park road.

Long dog run on the river lined with trees for shade.

It’s a small park for river walks. Dogs may like running around and in the water.

Great spot on the river most people use the dog park area but dogs are running free in the whole park.

Took a day trip out here from the city and had this dog park on the list.

It’s a great park for dogs to run. It’s fenced in on the left side so your pal can’t get lost in the brush, although the fence is directly against the brush so get ready to pull stickers from your pup’s coat.

On the right side is the river, so unless your dog loves to swim you’re “fenced in” there too. We didn’t make it down to the opposite end of the park as it’s so big, but we assume it’s fenced in too.

We threw frisbee for as far as it could go, and that didn’t even make a dent in the length of the park. Truly a great place for dogs to sprint and get their energy out.

It’s a little bit hard to find – maps will port you to a road above the dog park, so if that happens, turn around, and go into the park wit river boat ramp access and follow the park road down across a creek bridge, and to the end. There are signs for the dog park in the boat ramp parking lot so it’s not that hard to find.
