Lake Whitney State Park offers a scenic outdoor experience with a spacious area ideal for dogs to enjoy nature. While details about specific amenities are limited, the park provides a peaceful setting for dog owners to explore with their pets.
Beautiful area for snapping some pictures, enjoying nature, lots of RV camp sites. The state park closes really early, but there are some quiet public access areas around the area.
Nice park, it’s NULL a person. It’s really rocky so make sure to wear water shoes .There are a lot of grass burrs, these small round prickly weeds that stick to everything including you dogs and it’s hard to remove from the fur. Restrooms were clean. It’s a huge park with camping areas and RV parking. A few fast food places near and a Walmart.
Pretty great camping trip with the family. Pretty views, lots of birds, close to town if you need it, and friendly staff. Enjoyed swimming and fishing, but would have liked to have been able to rent kayaks.
I was there to hike. On that it’s a little bit of a bummer because there is combined about 2 miles worth of hiking, however, the lake is beautiful and the campgrounds are well kept. There is even day use beach access for those who just want to go for a swim.
This is a great RV camping area for anyone. Be aware of the sticker bugs that will get in your dogs fur. That is my only negative and why I’m giving four stars instead of five.
If going front the Dallas area the drive is great for a weekend adventure. I booked the last spot available for the 4th of July and got a pull through space#50. Full hookup. 20/30&50 amp. It has lots of room even for a large class A. Campers were not stacked on top of each other. Lots of room. Great privacy in the campsite #50 hiking trail. RV Seating setup faces the woods. The lake is a long walk from this campsite area. You will need a bike or golf cart if you don’t want to walk a mile. There are fantastic lake sites with beautiful views. There are great tent camping sites as well as really nice day use areas. East arrival processes. my only complaint and it’s a big one if you have a dog with lots of fur. There are extremely tiny sticker bugs everywhere. I spent every day picking them from my dogs, mouth area, her paws, her tail. Every time she takes a step or sniff the ground, lots of little tiny sticker bugs gets in her hair. They are not the normal size stickers in a park or Lawn. Which makes it even more annoying, and I had to cut some of them out. This is a good campground if you don’t have a furry dog. I probably wouldn’t go back just because of the stickers.
