A wonderful urban forest with lots of trails and pretty sights. Be prepared to hike at least 3 miles to see some of the wonders of the park. Can’t wait to visit again!
It’s simply brilliant to have such a spacious park right in the heart of town, and with so many trails to choose from, you can go back over and over again! Great for dogs, horses, and humans!

Wood track with iron cap. Used for the Charleston to Hamburg line. The longest train track in the world back in 1833.
This was a very large natural wooded area just outside of downtown Aiken, and a very nice place to walk, although not as scenic as Hopeland Gardens. The downside is that we wouldn’t have known about it if a salesperson in a shop downtown had not mentioned it. When my friend and tried to find it, it wasn’t easily found because it wasn’t marked on local maps.
