Tabano Hollow Open Space is a favorite destination for dog lovers in Santa Barbara, California, offering a large, inviting area where dogs can run and play off-leash. This dog park features a long, spacious enclosure that provides ample room for high-energy pups to stretch their legs or for quieter dogs to find their own corner away from the dog pack. With friendly, responsible owners and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a go-to spot for both new and regular visitors looking for a safe, pet-friendly community space.
The park is double-gated for added security, and it boasts natural grassy surfaces thanks to recent rains and good maintenance. Water is available for dogs, and waste bags and garbage cans are provided for convenience. Most visitors appreciate the respectful, supportive community, making this an exceptional option for dog owners seeking both socialization opportunities and plenty of room to play in Santa Barbara.
It is a nice little spot for a dog park. Plenty of room to roam. Seems the crowd prefers older dogs as our Labrador puppy was just to much energy for them. I felt bad about his energy and felt the need to leash him so as not to bother the older dogs. We did not stay long.
would be nice if ground was green grass but appreciate having an area for pup to run off leash.
Nice place to take your dog, very friendly people!
We love going to this dog park. It is nice and large giving our speedy guy plenty of room to run around.
It is also big enough to find your own corner to play fetch and avoid the dog pack.
That being said ours is very friendly and loves playing in the dog pack with all the other dogs. For the most part people are nice, respectful, and have friendly dogs.
Busiest hours (with the most dogs) is typically week days between 4 and 6.
One of the best off – leash dog parks in town. People are friendly and take more responsibility for their dogs.
Several months later: there are the morning people (park hours are 8 to 10 and 3 to sunset) and the afternoon people. They couldn’t be nicer. The park is long, giving dogs a chance to run hard and dog packs the flexibility to move wherever.
There’s water for the dogs, bags are generally supplied, two large garbage cans are next to the double gate entrance (open one gate with dog on leash, take leash off inside both gates, open gate into dog park to let off leash dog out).
People can be so helpful. Some folks have taken my young cattle dog to the park for me when I was ill. People know you by your dog and learn your dog’s name well before your own.
May 2025 Tabano Hollow continues to delight. We’ve had a happy combo of overwatering and a couple of late rains, leaving the park a long progression of pleasant grassy surfaces. The cooler eve air seems to make the dogs more playful.
