🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Sheffield Village Park in Oakland, CA, is a small but charming neighborhood destination known for its playground, slides, swings, and a welcoming community vibe. Located at 247 Marlow Dr, this park is wheelchair accessible and offers amenities such as a baseball field, public restrooms, and a play structure on sand that kids love. The park is often described as a hidden gem ideal for families looking for a quaint outing spot with plenty of opportunities for children’s play and a friendly, relaxed environment.
While dogs are technically allowed at the park, reviews note inconsistent enforcement of dog regulations, with some visitors using it as an informal dog park. There are no fenced dog areas, nor designated off-leash spaces, but pet owners often bring their dogs to enjoy the green space and shaded areas. Sheffield Village Park’s accessibility, neighborhood charm, and pet-friendly atmosphere make it a nice stop for those seeking dog-friendly parks in Oakland, especially for families seeking a play area with activities for both kids and their pets.
No dogs allowed. The park was small, but cute
Nice small park, they have sand toys and scooters and other toys the kids can play with while inside the park which was a nice surprise. Lacks picnic tables, I saw only one.
This park is a hidden gem, just like the neighborhood. This park has a play area with swings, slides & sand. It also has a basketball set up and a baseball home plate w/backstop no mound or base set up. Using the baseball area can be great if the grass is mowed and the field isn’t muddy.
Most kids enjoy sliding down the hill on pieces of cardboard. It’s that type of quaint piece of Americana.
Sadly, there are often teens/young adults smoking pot in the park or people using it as a dog park (no dogs allowed).
Overall ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Ideal hidden park with one tree that give shade. Surrounded by trees with
play structure on sand, kids get dirty easily. The house is available for event now. Pity that the place gets dirty easily.
Such a pity that this amazing space has been left to go to ruin….Many young kiddies use this play area.it would be really nice to see some new equipment and a revamp of the playground
