This is a main causeway for mountain lions, Bobcats and I’m assuming deer based on previous mentions. Came up on 2 fresh kills(Turkey, I believe.) at the trailhead my first visit. There’s a petition to stop the expansion of the Oakland Zoo infringing on one of the last Natural Areas left in the bay area. It’s tragic.

This place has been a great find. Most days I only run in to 1 or 2 hikers with or without dogs. It says it’s ok for dogs off leash, but I bring my leash just in case the dogs don’t get along. It’s a mixed crowd of dog owners with leashes and without. The views are spectacular. The open space is awesome for the dogs to run and be free. The weekends can be crowded though. Otherwise, this is the best tolerated off leash spot in the East Bay.
