🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Bruce King Memorial Dog Park is a well-maintained, community-loved destination for dog owners in El Cerrito, California. Located along the scenic Ohlone Greenway, this fenced dog park offers separate areas for both small and large dogs, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience for pets of all sizes. The park is locally known for its friendly visitors, both two-legged and four-legged, and its convenient location for those seeking pet-friendly trails in the East Bay.
Dog owners appreciate the park’s secure, double-gated entry, which provides peace of mind as dogs can enjoy off-leash freedom to exercise and socialize. Fresh water bowls and a running water fountain are available, making it easy to keep pups hydrated during their play sessions. While the bark ground cover is designed for durability and ease of maintenance, be aware that caterpillars can be found, particularly on the small dog side during certain seasons. Despite occasional professional dog walkers with large groups, both areas remain well-regulated and inviting for everyone.
It was a very nicely maintained park, and I met some lovely people there.
Small but cool dog park. We’ve only just started going here with our lab, but we always meet some really nice people here. It’s rarely crowded but even when we show up with nobody there within about 10-15 minutes three or four people with their dogs show up. We like that there are separate areas for small dogs and large dogs too.
Has both small and large dog fenced sections. However, professional dog walkers often place their pack of 6-7 dogs in either section. Their pack often includes dogs that really are too large to be appropriate for the small dog section. This hasn’t seemed to be a problem since the walkers’ dog packs appear to be pretty well bahaved and they follow the walker’s commands.
Great place to walk a dog safe with gates and space to run
I didn’t think to take photos of the actual park at the time, I was very distracted. I need to say that this park is completely overrun by caterpillars. I’ve been here twice, the smaller side has more caterpillars than the side for the bigger dogs. The bigger side has more room for the small dogs to run. Both sides are equipped with big clean water bowls for drinking and a running water fountain.
Minus 1 star for the caterpillar infestation. Minus another because of the bark, whoever built this park, didnt have dogs in mind. But maybe the bark is a cheaper ground layer.
