Did a 7 mile hike with my son!
Park at the Lodge, go to the RIGHT of the building, down a staircase and to a walking path behind the building to the trail head.
This is a much shorter and more accessible way to get to Whispering Cave than the whispering cave trail head which is near Old Man’s. Sharp decline (about 150 steps) from the lodge to join up with the actual trail. Maybe half mile to cave from there with some additional elevation change. I’m a 40+ overweight guy and handled it OK, just a little rough coming back up.
The Hemlock trail splits off down to the bottom of the gorge. It’s pretty boring, including the bridge itself.
But the whispering cave and trail going to it is awesome. Highly recommend!
Great hike that leads to a small water fall
Incredible and adventurous trail!
We are so grateful that this trail has been added, behind The Lodge. The trail can be challenging, but it is well worth the effort. This was the only wet waterfall. Excellent and interesting views. The only downside is you can’t walk over the Hemlock bridge unless you head back toward the Oldman’s Cave.
