Hocking Adena Bikeway Trailhead in Nelsonville, Ohio, is a pet-friendly recreation area renowned for its scenic multi-use trail that runs alongside the Hocking River. The trail features a flat, paved surface ideal for dog-friendly hiking, jogging, and biking, making it an excellent spot for locals and visitors seeking pet-friendly trails in southeast Ohio. The parking area is wheelchair accessible, adding to the park’s inclusivity.
While not a traditional off-leash dog park, this location welcomes leashed dogs and is a good choice for those who want to enjoy a walk or run with their pets. The area includes benches and informative kiosks, with parking conveniently available at the trailhead. The trail’s tranquil atmosphere is complemented by regular maintenance and the presence of natural scenery and local birdwatching opportunities, making this a great dog park alternative for nature-loving pet owners.
Great RTT bike path. Very good shape and well maintained. Nice long stretches between crossing, can get up good head of steam.
Very scenic trail from Nelsonville to 11 mile marker. There was a porta-potty there that needed service badly. A bench and info kiosk there also. Most restrooms appear to be located close to Athens section–we didn’t ride there.
Trailhead here is not well marked, though GPS will take you right to it. It’s basically the parking lot of the Rocky company. The trail was flat and paved, which was nice, but was fairly underwhelming. Probably nice for the locals, but not necessarily a destination spot unless you’re just just looking for a flat trail to get some mileage in. It more or less follows the river, but you can’t really access the river, and I was hoping for some areas along the way to stop, picnic, etc. I did feel relatively safe on the trail, but overall just a basic bike path.
It’s a nice trail I just don’t like the crossroads. I also don’t like the fact that it’s supposed to be a nature trail a large portion of it I’m looking at people’s backyards and a trailer park.
Very well maintained walking/bike trail.I started at the trailhead behind the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway Depot to State Route 691. In that short distance there are so many things that are scenic and interesting that I would like to come back and visit.
