Coleman Oval Dog Run: A Dog Park in New York, New York

Coleman Oval Dog Run offers a basic, pet-friendly space for local dog owners looking for a convenient dog park in New York, NY. Located at Coleman Playground, this dog run features asphalt surfaces and is fully fenced, with separate sections for both small and large dogs. The area is easily accessible and is especially popular due to the lack of many alternatives in the neighborhood—even though it sits near the bustling Manhattan Bridge and next to a skate park, which can add significant noise.

The run is appreciated for being flat and easy to reach, plus there is adequate tree cover providing shade for dogs and owners. While there are large trash bins for convenience and some seating (in the main area), the park could benefit from more frequent cleaning and additional owner amenities like water fountains and seating in the small dog area. Despite being basic and sometimes affected by urban challenges, this dog run continues to attract friendly local dog owners and their pups.

Dirty. Looks like a homeless hang out

It’s a basic dog run, no frills. But the dogs that come to play are friendly and the dog parents are also friendly and respectful. Update: the parks dept. Needs to get off its kister and keep the dog park free from broken glass, trash, dog poop, and other debris. (the pics shown are not representative of what the park actually looks like.)

Dirty and looks abandoned, dog owners don’t pick up after their dogs and trash everywhere, hope it gets a makeover. On top of it, dogs are scared of the subway noise from the Manhattan bridge and the skateboards in the skate park next to it. Who had the idea to create a dog run close to noises dogs are very sensitive to? Not. a great planning.

Not a bad dog run considering there aren’t many in the area! It’s pretty basic: Asphalt run with sections for big and small dogs—well shaded, nice big trash cans. Some cons: The smaller run doesn’t have seating and there aren’t any areas for dogs to get water. Also, it’s very loud from the trains on the Manhattan bridge, which might frighten some dogs. We’ll be back here, though!
