If you’re traveling with your pets and searching for a dog park in Raton, New Mexico, Raton Dog Park is a convenient place to let your furry friend stretch their legs. Situated at 444 Garcia St in beautiful Raton, this park is located within a larger complex that features jogging and walking trails, making it a great spot for dog-friendly hiking and exercise. The accessible location and open space make it a helpful stop for long road trips, particularly for those traveling between Denver and Phoenix.
The park is wheelchair accessible with accessible parking, although dedicated parking close to the dog area itself can be limited and may require a short walk from nearby parking or street spots. While the dog park seems fairly new and provides plenty of room for play, some visitors have reported issues with thorns on the ground, so paw protection and careful supervision are recommended. Trails around the park offer a nice loop for walking your pup both on and off the leash.
Come on Raton you can do better. Dog park full of stickers? Who in the world planned this disaster? Parking 500’ away but the path also has stickers? It’s like no thought or research was put into this.
Maps put us in the neighborhood, no parking. We had to go around on the other side. There was no close parking to the dog park in closest to parking was at the aquarium center. It wasn’t marked well, we ended up going to the horseshoe pits
What a great park! I haven’t taken the trip to my family’s in a year or so because of COVID and I don’t remember this being here last time. It seems new and is a perfect place to exercise the dogs midway through my trip. Its in a nice big park with jogging/walking trails around to walk the dogs on a nice loop and then you can let them romp in the park. Could use double gates for safety but I will be stopping here a lot, everytime I take the trip down from here on out.
No parking or actual paths to the ‘Dog Park’ itself. Very disappointing.
Changing my rating. It’s been mowed. However. Still no doggy cleanup bags and no parking.
Was pleased to see a dog park on my way from Denver to Phoenix. Showed up, address is totally wrong, and TONS of THORNS everywhere. My dog couldn’t walk two feet without getting more thorns in her feet and she was so uncomfortable she didn’t even go. I had to carry my 70lb dog back to the car. Also there is no parking besides on the street and the locals don’t seem to like that too much.
10/10 do not go there. It would’ve been better to find a field and just not let her off the leash, which would still suck.
